This Week at the Workshop #17
Updated: Jan 16, 2022
We have entered the eagerly awaited European Solar Challenge 2021 week. Our team, which came to the end of vehicle production and race preparations covering a long period of time, moved to Belgium.
Our ARIBA Autonomous vehicle took its place in Informatics Valley and experienced the excitement of the first race. In this competition, which we participated for the first time, we were one of the three teams that completed the course. Our ITU Solar Car Team, who won the third prize, received great interest in the race area.
ARIBA X passed the Mechanical Testing and Scrutineering stage on its first day in Belgium. The next day, our team, who finished 4th in the dynamic track stage, started test drives at Circuit Zolder in the evening.
Our pilots had the opportunity to get to know the track during the test drives we carried out live on Twitch. At the same time, our technical teams closely followed the test to ensure that the vehicle runs smoothly.
With the start of the 24-hour race, enthusiasm spread throughout the circuit at Circuit Zolder. ARIBA X, which consolidated its place in the 4th place in the first hours, gave great hope for the future in terms of productivity data. An unfortunate incident occurred as the race was entering the night session. ARIBA X spun and took damage on one of the critical corners of the circuit.
Our team, which fit 2 races into 1 week, closed the week with the success of our autonomous vehicle and the bitterness of our solar car and returned home.
In the post-race situation assessment, the data obtained during the race proved the completion of a competitive vehicle production.
